A serological survey of antibodies to a rotavirus in 252 sera from Black and White South Africans was performed by means of an immunofluorescence test using cells infected with simian rotavirus, SA 11, as antigen. The results indicate widespread presence of this agent in South Africa and also that the Black population is exposed to a greater extent than the White population.
