[Rubella in Poland in 2008].

In Poland, 13,146 cases of rubella were registered in 2008 (incidence 34.5 per 100,000 population), of which 69 (0.5%) cases were laboratory confirmed. One case of congenital rubella syndrome was reported. The incidence in men (51.9) was 2.8-times higher than in women (18.2). The highest incidence was observed in children aged 7 and 8 years (331,4 and 268,2, respectively). No rubella deaths were registered. An improvement of laboratory diagnosis of reported cases is necessary to assess the impact of 2-dose immunization implemented in 2003 on rubella epidemiology in Poland.
