To analyze the literature to report the main information on ADR in emergency departments and to describe the most common treatments.
The number of patients admitted to ED for an ADR ranges from 0.6 to 3.6%. The most commonly agreed on and aspecific treatments performed are forced diuresis, urine acidification, bowel irrigation and haemodialysis.
The number and characteristics of ADR may be a useful guide for health care professionals in EDs.
