[Role of cytologic examination of smears in vulvovaginal candidiasis].

Cytological examination allows one to reveal various forms of the fungus vegetation in the host, the fungus-epitheliocyte interaction to evaluate morphological state of the epithelium. The method in combination with clinical symptoms allows one to establish a differential diagnosis of genital candidiasis in 87.8% cases and to have an opinion of the disease prognosis.
