[Critical remarks on the surgical treatment of syndactylia (author's transl)].

The technique of surgery for syndactylia is described in detail. The author's opinion about the optimal age for surgical correction of equally or unequally long fingers is reported. The importance of early intervention in case of complicated syndactylia is stressed. Until growth has come to an end, continuous follow-up is necessary for early recognizing late contractures.
