Preventive and interceptive orthodontics encourages inappropriate expectations from treatment. It implies that if the right treatment is done at the early age, no further treatment would be needed. This is obviously not true but assessment and/or treatment in the mixed dentition can be very helpful in many cases. This paper discusses some of the indications for early assessment/treatment.
