Study of 50 cases of glaucoma with low pressure shows a frequency of the affection in 6.39% of the cases of glaucoma with open angle. In 75% of the cases, glaucoma with low pressure appears after the age of 60, with distinct predominance in females. In 10% of the cases this glaucoma was hereditary. For the diagnosis of glaucoma with low pressure, the systematic research of the ocular tension, stimulation of provocative tests, and the examination of the visual field and of the optic papilla, are of great use. The presence in the same family of the glaucoma with open angle with high tension, of that with low tension shows that the low pressure glaucoma is not a special form of glaucoma. It is the result of a circulatory insufficiency at the level of papilla of the optic nerve, with the appearance of characteristic functional deficiencies, even where the ocular tension is apparently within normal limits.
