Abstract
The increasing popularity of hormone replacement has focused renewed attention on the issue of whether certain sex steroids predispose to--or exert a protective effect against--various forms of carcinoma. In particular, the impact of the sex hormones on the pathogenesis of breast cancer remains highly controversial. Published reports have failed to demonstrate a clear relationship.
