Independence in self-care is the basis for meaningful rehabilitation. This includes: eating, drinking, dressing, grooming, mastering communicational skills. Together with the Occupational Therapist, the client practises to gain independence and enhance his self-awareness. Only on this basis will the sick or handicapped person be able to master the requirements of everyday life in the institution as well as in his vocational rehabilitation and--most essential--later in everyday life and in the working world.
