[Comparison of anonymous and hospital treatment of alcoholism].

As many as 916 persons who consulted the narcologist with a purpose of being treated for alcoholism on an anonymous basis and 916 patients with analogous ailments admitted to a psychiatric hospital were examined and the results obtained were correlated. The anonymous treatment appeared money-saving, won the sympathy of the patients and their relatives, and was effective enough. The data obtained enable one to raise the question about the expansion of the network of dispensaries and rooms for the anonymous treatment. The results of the treatment also indicate that both hospital and anonymous treatment of alcoholic patients should be most likely requiring payment.
