The article summarises primarily the natural history of structural scolioses, together with the diagnosis and treatment thereof. Much remains unknown concerning the genesis and development of scolioses. But the current methods of treatment are effective. The development of scoliosis can be prevented chiefly by a remedial corset during the growth period. In complicated cases surgery is indicated.
