Case report: storm and acid, together… !

The authors discuss the case of a 32-year-old woman, with history of Graves' disease, who was noncompliant with her medications. She presented with thyroid storm and concomitant diabetic ketoacidosis. She had no history of diabetes, and this was the first presentation of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes mellitus and Graves' disease are both autoimmune diseases and can occur in concurrence, but such presentation wherein extremes of both disorders, namely thyroid storm and diabetic ketoacidosis occur together, is very rare and requires early diagnosis and management.
