Therapeutic options for splenic artery aneurysm include endovascular management, laparoscopic surgery, and open surgery, although their indications and applications as standard therapy remain controversial.
Between August 2009 and March 2011, three patients with splenic artery aneurysm were treated at our institution. All patients underwent laparoscopic surgery.
There was no conversion to open surgery. The mean operative time was 204.7 min (range: 147-265 min) and the mean intraoperative blood loss was 30 mL (range: 0-90 mL). There was no mortality or morbidity.
The laparoscopic approaches for splenic artery aneurysm were safe procedures.
