A simple technique is described for producing enhanced radiographs of excised breast specimens with clinical mammographic equipment. Radiographs of specimens immersed in water are compared to radiographs of the same specimen in air. Using this fluid-balancing technique, visualization of tissue structure is enhanced, particularly when negative-mode Xerox or film is used.
