[Cryotherapy in the treatment of retinopathy of premature neonates].

The author gives a brief account on the use of cryodestruction of the peripheral retina to prevent the development of irreversible stages of retinopathy of the newborn. The author defines the suitable time of indications, describes the technical procedure, complications and subsequent possible treatment. The method is supplemented by the author's results obtained in a group of patients.
