Thirty years have passed since the International Conference on Sarcoidosis, held in Washington, D.C., in 1960. During this period, many useful findings were reported on the pathophysiology of sarcoidosis, such as findings on the angiotensin-converting enzyme and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. On the other hand, no information on the causative agents has been obtained, and no advances have been made in the treatment of sarcoidosis. We expect steady advances in both in the 1990s and hope that the 12th World Congress on Sarcoidosis in September 1991 in Kyoto will mark the first step toward these objectives.
自1960年在华盛顿特区召开国际结节病会议以来，三十年已经过去了。在此期间，关于结节病的病理生理学有许多有用的发现被报道，比如关于血管紧张素转换酶和支气管肺泡灌洗液的发现。另一方面，尚未获得有关致病因子的信息，结节病的治疗也没有取得进展。我们期望在20世纪90年代能稳步取得进展，并希望1991年9月在京都召开的第12届世界结节病大会将朝着这些目标迈出第一步。
