[Tuberculosis and maternity].

Tuberculosis during pregnancy is mainly detected by complaints. An infiltrative form of tuberculosis is the most common one in patients of this group. A clinical course of tuberculosis in the pregnant women is accompanied by a profound iron deficiency anemia and develops with higher tuberculin sensitization. As compared with the infants born to mothers who were given antituberculous drugs, these born to mothers with pulmonary tuberculosis not treated during their pregnancy have a lower birthweight. Breast-fed infants born to tuberculosis-affected mothers who were treated during their pregnancy have a higher body weight by their first year than bottle-fed ones and those born to non-treated mothers. Breast milk of mothers with pulmonary tuberculosis contained M. tuberculosis and L-forms but was not a source of infection transmission.
