Between March 1987 and August 1989, Niamey hospital recorded 69 AIDS cases of which 60 were confirmed by Western Blot. HIV1 and HIV2 may have been introduced quite recently in this city, probably by male seasonal migrants from the north in search of work; this explains the male predominance.
1987年3月至1989年8月间，尼亚美医院记录了69例艾滋病病例，其中60例经免疫印迹法确诊。HIV1和HIV2可能是最近才传入该市的，很可能是由北方来此寻找工作的季节性男性移民带入的；这就解释了男性患者居多的现象。
