Autologous cell transplantation and stem cell mobilization are two promising strategies for myocardial regeneration in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This article reviews progress to date and the feasibility of autologous cell transplantation and stem cell mobilization as potential therapeutic strategies for ischemic cardiomyopathy.
