Abstract

The results of this study indicate that contact scrotal thermography provides a means for detecting relative differences in temperatures within the testes, but absolute temperatures, as determined by thermistor probes, are about 5% lower. The data do not indicate that this difference is constant, and a simple correction factor cannot be used to equilibrate the two methods of determining the intratesticular temperature. The data also indicate that elevated intratesticular temperatures are associated with surgically induced varicoceles in monkeys.
