Leiomyoma of the oral cavity is infrequently found because of the scarcity of smooth muscle in the mouth. A review of the literature yielded only 124 cases reported from 1884 to 1987. A new case of primary leiomyoma of the lower buccal sulcus is presented. Although the recurrence rate has been very low, wide surgical excision is recommended because of the high incidence of malignancy of this tumor in the oral cavity contrasted with other parts of the body.
由于口腔中平滑肌较少，口腔平滑肌瘤很少见。对文献的回顾显示，从1884年到1987年仅有124例病例报道。本文报告了一例下颊沟原发性平滑肌瘤的新病例。尽管该肿瘤的复发率一直很低，但鉴于与身体其他部位相比，口腔内该肿瘤的恶性发生率较高，仍建议进行广泛的手术切除。
