The views by I. V. Davydovskiĭ and V. N. Galankin are considered and their similarity is shown. The original opinion of the author is as follows: (1) the adaptation and disease are relatively independent properties of the organism and, thus, are interrelated as parts of the whole; (2) both adaptation and disease are included into the essence of the organism but are not identical to the essence of each other.
