A gemistocytic astrocytoma demonstrating high intensity on both T1W and T2W MR images is reported. Astrocytoma usually shows low density in T1WI. This peculiar astrocytoma showed no hemorrhage, hemosiderin deposits, melanin or iron. Shortening of T1 relaxation time may be caused by protein hydration layer due to protein rich tumor cells.
报告了一例在T1加权和T2加权磁共振图像上均表现为高强度的肥胖型星形细胞瘤。星形细胞瘤在T1加权成像中通常显示低密度。这种特殊的星形细胞瘤未显示出血、含铁血黄素沉积、黑色素或铁。T1弛豫时间缩短可能是由于富含蛋白质的肿瘤细胞形成的蛋白质水化层所致。
