Treatment of disseminated testicular tumors with combination of cis-platinum, vinblastine, bleomycin and actinomycin D.

Cis-platinum, vinblastine, bleomycin and actinomycin D were used in the treatment of 24 patients with advanced testicular tumors. There were 8 seminomas and 16 nonseminomas. 19 patients were in stage III B, 2 in stage III A and 3 in stage II B. 7 patients were previously treated. Complete remission was obtained in 12 patients (50%), partial remission in 8 (33%) and treatment failed in 4 (16.7%). According to localization of metastases best results were obtained in patients with lung metastases (11 complete remissions out of 16 patients). Nausea, vomiting and alopecia were the most frequent toxic side effects of treatment. The authors hope that the 9 patients who are still in complete remission have good chances for complete recovery.
