The attitude towards vaccinations has been mainly positive among Finns. Causes of intermittent negative attitudes towards vaccines include, besides the failings embedded in the scientific beliefs of citizens, also world views, political insights and ideologies. In addition, rational decision-making about vaccination is complicated by two flaws of everyday thinking: the status quo bias and the omission bias. In vaccine information more attention should be paid on citizens' cognitive structures and on the way how the subjects of public debate are selected.
