The socio-psychiatric crisis intervention ward at the University Hospital Berne is held up as an example for a concept of crisis intervention for in-patients. After representation of the clinical setting and a diagnostic survey, we enter into the rules for crisis-interventions-technique of our ward. In addition to the rules, a psychodynamic conception serves deeper understanding of psycho-social crises. Finally, we describe the translation of the theoretical conception into therapeutic practice.
