This phenomenon has been detected in 3 patients with the clinical diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia. Eosinophilic granulocytes with round nuclei, situated in the centre in most cells, with mature chromatin in the nuclei without nucleoli, with manifest degranulation, and basophil cytoplasm have been detected in the patients' peripheral blood. Since no cytochemical or cytogenetic studies have been carried out to validate the eosinophilic variant of chronic myeloid leukemia, the final diagnosis of the disease in these patients is discussed.
