The authors report the results of experiments and of multiple-modality treatment of gastroduodenal ulcers with the use of local inhibitors of proteolysis, with contrykal among other drugs. Experimental ulcers have been induced in rats according to Okabe. Eighty-three patients have been treated with the suggested schemes. The activities of lysosomal proteinases have been studied both experimentally and clinically. Local injections of contrykal into the ulcer had inhibited proteinase activity and had a positive therapeutic effect.
