A study performed in cooperation with a narcological dispensary showed that persons suffering from active tuberculosis and alcoholism amounted to 11.2 per cent of all the new cases registered in the tuberculosis dispensary and 5.9 per cent of all the new cases registered in the narcological dispensary. Respectively 2.5 per cent of the persons registered in the narcological dispensary and 4.2 per cent of the persons registered in the tuberculosis dispensary were subject to compulsory treatment. Among the new cases of drug addiction, the number of tuberculous patients amounted to 17.9 per cent. With respect to the patients with active tuberculosis registered in the tuberculosis dispensary their number was 1.6 per cent. Phthisiologists should be taught the principles of narcology.
