The work provides grounds for use of percutaneous-cavitary electrophoresis (bipolar electrophoresis through cutaneous electrodes after intrarectal and intrasigmoid application of the drug mixture) in lumbosacral pain syndromes. The technique is described. A total of 60 patients were under investigation including those with prolonged radiculitis and lumbo-ischialgia. Substantial improvement was attained in 65% and less pronounced improvement in 25%. The immediate effect of the intervention is documented by objective parametric tests. Indications and counterindications to this treatment-accelerating technique are given.
