Contribution to the recognition of iniencephaly on the basis of a new case.

A child at term had been delivered by means of Caesarean operation because of its I. dorso-superior transverse position. The not viable, female newborn had a malformation causing an extremely retroflexion of the head. After intensive pathological and anatomical study the main diagnosis was iniencephaly and heart malformation. A large number of further results, also of malformated brain anatomy is given to contribute to the knowledge of the malformation sequence. The chances for early detection of the malformation are discussed.
