[The treatment of an embolized central venous catheter].

The frequent use of central venous catheters for pressure monitoring or long-term administration of fluids can in rare cases lead to embolization of catheter fragments. In view of the potential complications, extractions, extraction is mandatory. The fragments may be removed by use of a loop snare, a helical basket or a myocardial biopsy catheter.
