Abstract

BACKGROUND

Stevioside is one of the most important food additives that has become well known for its sweetness. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of Stevioside on the heart.

METHODS

4-day-old embryonated chickens eggs were inoculated with Stevioside and kept until hatching. Shortly after, the heart tissue samples were taken to examine organ Oxidative stresses by measuring Malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) levels, ferric reducing /antioxidant power (FRAP) and cupric ion reducing assay (CUPRIC).

RESULTS

There was no significant difference in glutathione level, lipid peroxidation, FRAP, and cupric assay.

CONCLUSION

It was suggested that stevioside did not cause marked damages to heart tissues in chicken embryo model.

背景

甜菊糖苷是最重要的食品添加剂之一,因其甜度而闻名。本研究的目的是评估甜菊糖苷对心脏的影响。

方法

将4日龄的鸡胚接种甜菊糖苷并饲养至孵化。之后不久,采集心脏组织样本,通过测量丙二醛(MDA)和谷胱甘肽(GSH)水平、铁还原/抗氧化能力(FRAP)和铜离子还原测定(CUPRIC)来检测器官氧化应激。

结果

谷胱甘肽水平、脂质过氧化、FRAP和铜测定均无显著差异。

结论

提示在鸡胚模型中,甜菊糖苷不会对心脏组织造成明显损伤。
