The Hawaii State Hospital (HSH) is one element within the total Hawaii mental health system that defines its role and functions according to its relationship with other elements of the system. As the only public psychiatric inpatient facility, the State Hospital's unique role is to provide inpatient care and treatment to patients who are not eligible for hospitalization in the private sector.
