Abstract

Q

I am involved in research regarding nursing here and in Ireland. It is my understanding that by virtue of the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 the former General Nursing Council (GNC) for England and Wales was reconstituted to form the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (UKCC) in 1983 and that it absorbed the Central Midwives Board and the Health Visitors Association.
