BACKGROUND/AIM: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy. Conservative treatment choices are not always satisfactory. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of kinesiotaping (KT) on pain level, grip strength, and functional status compared with that of placebo KT and orthotic device (OD) in patients with CTS.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
In this randomized, placebo-controlled study, participants were allocated into one of three groups: an experimental KT group (Group 1), a placebo KT group (Group 2), and an OD group (Group 3). Visual analogue scale (VAS) and Douleur Neuropathique 4 (DN4) scores, dynamometric grip strength measures, and the Boston CTS questionnaire (BQ) were the outcome measures.
RESULTS
All groups significantly improved in terms of VAS scores (P < 0.05), DN4 scores (P < 0.05), and BQ scores (P < 0.05). Grip strength improved in Group 3 (P = 0.001). There was a significant difference among the groups with respect to BQ scores (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
KT application for the treatment of CTS should be an alternative treatment choice.
背景/目的：腕管综合征（CTS）是最常见的嵌压性神经病。保守治疗的选择并不总是令人满意。本研究旨在比较运动贴扎（KT）与安慰剂 KT 和矫形器（OD）对 CTS 患者疼痛程度、握力和功能状态的影响。
材料和方法
在这项随机、安慰剂对照研究中，参与者被分配到以下三组之一：实验性 KT 组（第 1 组）、安慰剂 KT 组（第 2 组）和 OD 组（第 3 组）。视觉模拟评分（VAS）和神经病理性疼痛量表 4（DN4）评分、握力测力计测量值和波士顿腕管综合征问卷（BQ）是评估结果的指标。
结果
所有组在 VAS 评分（P < 0.05）、DN4 评分（P < 0.05）和 BQ 评分（P < 0.05）方面均有显著改善。第 3 组的握力明显改善（P = 0.001）。各组间 BQ 评分存在显著差异（P < 0.05）。
结论
KT 应用于 CTS 的治疗应是一种替代治疗选择。
