Six eyes underwent combined extracapsular cataract extraction with or without intraocular lens implantation and trabeculectomy in 1985 and 1986. Postoperatively, the intraocular pressure was acceptable without medication in all cases. Visual acuity also improved in every case. There was no greater incidence of postoperative complications than that expected when either procedure is done alone.
