[Assessment of atopic allergies in children].

Atopic allergies lead to frequent consultations in pediatric practice. Aims of allergy work up is prevention of allergen exposure and drug prophylaxis. Main support for diagnosis is provided by patient history. History decides on the clinical relevance of findings and further work up. Total IgE and atopy screening tests like multi-RAST reveal the genetic disposition to develop allergies. Further steps in the work up are skin tests, RAST-tests and if necessary provocation tests.
