The paper is based on a one-year survey; the author investigated in a therapeutic community for the treatment of neuroses differences between eight small closed and one large open group. The author investigated the influence of the difference in size and type of the group on cohesion, tension, the patients' activity and the feeling of satisfaction with the group sessions. The results of the research suggest that in small closed group there is a stronger cohesion than in large open groups. The other investigated differences, incl. differences in the patients' activities, were not significant.
