The problem with incidents such as the contaminated saline solution at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport is that they often cause knee-jerk responses. Whatever the outcome of this particular case, there will inevitably be a spotlight on nurses. But people should not question the professionalism of the vast majority of nurses and nursing students.
