To present the surgical outcomes of vertical muscle resection in patients with thyroid eye disease (TED).
The medical records of 6 patients who underwent unilateral vertical muscle recession-resection to correct vertical strabismus in TED were reviewed retrospectively for postoperative angle of vertical deviation on days 1 and 7 and at months 1, 3, 6, and 12. Surgery was considered successful if the vertical deviation was ≤4. Reoperation rates and complications were also noted.
The mean preoperative angle of vertical deviation was 39.2 ± 3.8, and the mean final ocular deviation at 12 months postoperatively was 3.8 ± 5.9. There was significant reduction in postoperative vertical deviation (paired t test, P < 0.001). Surgery was successful in 4 patients (67%). There was neither unusual postoperative inflammation nor increased restriction of the resected muscle postoperatively in any patient.
Based on careful assessment and appropriate patient selection, vertical muscle resection can be considered an effective option that provides satisfactory surgical outcomes with regard to vertical deviation correction in TED.
介绍甲状腺眼病（TED）患者行垂直肌切除术的手术效果。
回顾性分析6例行单侧垂直肌后徙-切除术以矫正TED垂直斜视患者的病历，记录术后第1天和第7天以及术后1、3、6和12个月时的垂直偏斜角度。若垂直偏斜≤4，则认为手术成功。同时记录再次手术率和并发症情况。
术前垂直偏斜平均角度为39.2±3.8，术后12个月最终眼部平均偏斜为3.8±5.9。术后垂直偏斜有显著降低（配对t检验，P<0.001）。4例患者（67%）手术成功。所有患者术后均未出现异常炎症，且切除肌肉术后也未出现活动受限增加的情况。
基于仔细评估和恰当的患者选择，垂直肌切除术可被视为一种有效的选择，在矫正TED垂直偏斜方面能提供令人满意的手术效果。
