Toxocariasis is the clinical terms applied to infection of human with Ascarid nematodes in the order Ascaridida, named and . Because in recent years in Iran many people desire to keep pets (cats and dogs), and lacking of seroepidemiological study of toxocariasis in Mashhad, we decided to determine the seroprevalence of toxocariasis among people who own cats and dogs in comparison with control group.
A serological study for detection antibodies to in two groups (93 cat and dog owners and 93 healthy people as control group) was conducted from Feb 2013 to Dec 2013. An ELISA method was employed using determination of IgG antibodies against . The serum samples were evaluated for anti- antibody, using ELISA technique at Parasitology and Immunology Lab of Imam Reza Hospital of Mashhad. Using a questionnaire, epidemiological factors associated with infection were examined. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test.
The seroprevalence of antibodies in the pet owners and control group was respectively 20.43% and 1.07%. 47.3% of pet owners were female.
Presented data showed the significant difference between seroprevalence of toxocariasis among pet owners and control group. Education of society and in particular pet owners consisting of preventing contamination of the environment with eggs is advised.
弓首蛔虫病是用于描述人类感染蛔目蛔虫线虫(名为 和 )的临床术语。由于近年来在伊朗许多人希望饲养宠物(猫和狗),且缺乏马什哈德弓首蛔虫病的血清流行病学研究,我们决定确定养猫和狗的人群中弓首蛔虫病的血清流行率,并与对照组进行比较。
2013年2月至2013年12月对两组人群(93名猫和狗主人以及93名健康人作为对照组)进行了检测 抗体的血清学研究。采用ELISA方法测定抗 IgG抗体。血清样本在马什哈德伊玛目礼萨医院寄生虫学和免疫学实验室采用ELISA技术检测抗 抗体。使用问卷调查与感染相关的流行病学因素。数据采用卡方检验进行分析。
宠物主人组和对照组中 抗体的血清流行率分别为20.43%和1.07%。47.3%的宠物主人为女性。
现有数据显示宠物主人中弓首蛔虫病的血清流行率与对照组之间存在显著差异。建议对社会尤其是宠物主人进行教育,包括防止环境被 虫卵污染。
