Immediate results in vagotomy in 73 patients with duodenal ulcer have been considered. To assess the functional condition of the organ operated upon the electric activity of the stomach was recorded (EGM). These data allow to judge about its motor-evacuatory functions. EGM in conjunction with a pharmacological test makes it possible to control the intactness of basic trunks of the Laterget nerve while performing SPV and to objectively decide whether it is possible to preserve the pylorus. The occurrence of postvagotomal pathological syndromes is much rare when the functioning pylorus is preserved.
