Abstract

A case of localized nodular synovitis of the temporomandibular joint is described and discussed. There are no cases previously reported in the literature. The distinction between synovitis of the villo-nodular type and that of the localized nodular type can be made, given the close collaboration of clinician and pathologist. The recognition of these to clinical entities of nearly similar histomorphological pattern is of great importance, as they differ in clinical course, treatment and prognosis.
