A group of 50 healthy women and their newborn infants had leucocyte ascorbic acid (LAA) measurements carried out for after delivery. The mean corrected LAA level for mothers was 10.9 microgram/10(8)WBC and the newborn 17.1 microgram/10(8)WBC. A gradient between maternal and fetal levels was demonstrated.
