Secondary functional cheilo-rhino-plastie consists of restoring the normal insertions and orientations of the labio-narinary muscles (which they do not usually have after an initial cheilo-plastie), and this during the period of growth. The resultant functional transformations avoid the worsening of dento-maxillary sequelae and greatly improve orthodontic possibilities.
