Abstract
  1. In smooth muscle of the guinea-pig stomach, intramural nerve stimulation evoked cholinergic excitatory junction potential in the fundus and non-adrenergic non-cholinergic inhibitory junction potential in the antrum, yet cholinergic contractions in both regions. 2. This dissociation between electrical and mechanical responses was mainly due to different sensitivity of the membrane for depolarization to acetylcholine.
