Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of abdominal muscle strengthening training (AMST) using proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) on pulmonary function, pain, and functional disability index in chronic low back pain (CLBP) patients. Thirty CLBP patients were randomly assigned to the traditional physical therapy (control) group (n=15) and PNF-AMST group (n=15). Forced expiratory volume at 1 second (FEV) was measured to measure changes in pulmonary function. To measure the degree of pain, a visual analog scale (VAS) was used. The Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) was used to assess the disability level due to low back pain. A paired -test was performed to compare differences within the groups before and after intervention. An independent -test was performed to compare differences between the test and control groups. The level of significance was set at α=0.05. Within-group changes in FEV were significantly different in the experimental group (<0.01), and those in VAS and ODI were significantly different in both groups (both <0.01). The improvements in FEV, VAS, and ODI were significantly greater in the experimental group than in the control group (<0.01). This study showed that AMST using PNF was effective in enhancing pulmonary function and decreasing pain and functional disability index inpatients with CLBP. We expect it to be useful as one of the programs for CLBP patients in the future.

本研究旨在评估采用本体感觉神经肌肉促进法(PNF)进行的腹部肌肉强化训练(AMST)对慢性下腰痛(CLBP)患者肺功能、疼痛及功能障碍指数的影响。30例CLBP患者被随机分为传统物理治疗(对照组)组(n = 15)和PNF - AMST组(n = 15)。测量第1秒用力呼气量(FEV)以评估肺功能变化。使用视觉模拟量表(VAS)测量疼痛程度。采用Oswestry功能障碍指数(ODI)评估下腰痛导致的功能障碍水平。进行配对t检验以比较干预前后组内差异。进行独立t检验以比较试验组与对照组之间的差异。显著性水平设定为α = 0.05。试验组FEV的组内变化差异有统计学意义(<0.01),VAS和ODI在两组中的变化差异均有统计学意义(均<0.01)。试验组FEV、VAS和ODI的改善程度均显著大于对照组(<0.01)。本研究表明,采用PNF的AMST对增强CLBP患者的肺功能、减轻疼痛及降低功能障碍指数有效。我们期望其在未来能作为CLBP患者的治疗方案之一发挥作用。
