The aim was to determine the effect of multisensory stimulation (MSS) on the depression and anxiety status among nursing home-dwelling elderly people in Ahvaz, Iran.
This clinical trial study conducted on 28 old people living in nursing homes in Ahvaz, who were divided into two groups of intervention and control. The interventions included sensory stimulations of touch, sound, and sight for 4 weeks and 3 sessions weekly and 25 min per each session.
The mean depression and anxiety scores of the intervention group before and after the intervention were 14.5 ± 5.5 and 10.1 ± 5.3 and, 9.6 ± 8.1 and 6.1 ± 6.2, respectively.
MSS could improve the condition of depression and anxiety in the elderly nursing home residents.
本研究旨在确定多感官刺激(MSS)对伊朗阿瓦士养老院老年人抑郁和焦虑状况的影响。
本临床试验研究针对居住在阿瓦士养老院的28位老人展开,将其分为干预组和对照组。干预措施包括触觉、听觉和视觉的感官刺激,为期4周,每周3次,每次25分钟。
干预组干预前后的抑郁和焦虑平均得分分别为14.5±5.5和10.1±5.3,以及9.6±8.1和6.1±6.2。
多感官刺激可改善养老院老年居民的抑郁和焦虑状况。
