Association between emergency department length of stay and patient outcomes: a systematic review protocol.

The question of this review is: what is the association between emergency department length of stay and patient outcomes?More specifically, what is the association between the length of time a patient spends in the emergency department and outcomes, including, but not limited to: mortality, omitted episodes of care (e.g. non-administration of prescribed medication), adverse events, time to treatment (e.g. time to analgesia or time to operating theater), inpatient length of stay, leave without being seen rate and patient satisfaction?
